I use Brightwell Aquatics Magnesium supplement when needed. I don't think the brand makes much of a difference, just dose when you get low. Magnesium is important, it makes your calcium available to the corals. Test once a week once you get it back up to 1275-1300, you will get a feel as to how much you need to dose after a couple of weeks.

Agreed, my new bucket of RC opened over the weekend mixed up to 1240. I use Randy's DIY 2 part as well as the magnesium. I mix up 5 gallons of water at a time and i need 65ml of the magnesium additive to make the water 1400ppm. I keep my tank at 1400 by dosing 5ml of the additive two times per day (10ml total). My magnesium level is rock solid the way I am doing things right now. However, if I add a couple more acros (like I am this weekend!), i may have to adjust my daily dosing.

I use Kent's Tech M, and I know others do too.

Though with the salt I use I only have to add a cup full ever 3-4 weeks. (( I am using TM Pro, which has higher levels of Mag, I do have a good amount of SPS too ))

I also use Brightwell Aquatics Magnesion to raise and maintain my mag level. I use the liquid version. Tried the granular and it's a pain to mix up.

i use a calcium reactor with koralith and magnesium media from brightwell, i use a ratio of 10:1 koralith:mag media, and it has keeped my mag at 1470 ppm for about a month now, this hobby is getting easier by the minute, lol

BTW if you want to raise your magnesium then use epsom salt, it works and its CHEAP. like 1 dolar for a quart, it should last you a long time, once you get it at a value you like then you can maintain it with kent-m, brightwell, 2 part or should i say 3 part, or just like me with a reactor

How much epsom salt is required to raise Mg from 1170 to 1300 in a 450L tank? Is there a problem in using this much sulfate and can this be done in a single dose or should it be spread out?

Thanks

Jamie
