Have you seen the Schuran one? I'm thinking seriously about it for my 3/4" acrylic.
My current acrylic tank has a lot of scratches on the outside...all of which happened during a short stretch when I experimented with using a magnetic scraper. The scraper was working fine, but I didn't realize that I was scratching the outside with very fine scratches every time I used it.
The one I use on my next tank will have wheels....even if I have to make it myself.
No I haven't seen that one by Schuran, who sells them? I been talking to another guy and he says he don't use a magnet anymore just acrylic safe pads. I'll find out tomorrow which ones he uses. He said he felt his magnet caused some of his scratches.
I use the schuran one and love it , My tank is 1.5 inch thich acrylic and its the only one that ive fonund that works .
Its a bit pricy thou , I think i paid over 400 for it a year ago .It will scrape corialine right off thou
I had Algae Free build me a custom magnet for mine(3/4"). It is a floater. I think it is the tiger shark model with an oversized float. The float part is the custome end.
I have a MagnaVore X which is overkill for my 3/4" tank. But it was the magnet I used for my 1" tank. The Magnet is awesome and NEVER detaches by accident.
I ended up ordering a Tigershark magnet by Algae free. Do any of you also use another soft cloth on the outside of your magnet to be sure you don't get scratches. I was told to do this for added protection. Makes good sense to give it a try.
