Magnet Holder Break?

Has anyone have a magnet holder break on them? I came home to about 15" of sand piled up in the corner of my tank today. The flange that the sliding piece (T6080.23) slides into split and the stream came loose.

It's not too much of a big deal as I could just swap the holder from the outside to the inside, rearranging the sand was a pain though - everything was covered in the ensuing sand storm.

Just looking to see if that had happened to anyone else.

I have had a few magnet holders come back over the years for this problem but it seems pretty rare, I can't say that more than 10 out of almost as many thousands have been a problem.

Roger, it happened again (actually two more times)...

Last week I found my pump flopping around in the tank. They were 6080.50 magnet holder. After some investigation I found that the 6080.50 were the smaller magnets. I guess they were OK until I updated my drivers from th 6000 to the 6100 version.

I bought a two pairs of the 6200.50 to replace them but was wondering if the plastic is actually stronger or is it just the strength of the magnets that was upgraded?

Thanks,

Only the magnet is stronger, everything else is the same. This is unusual and while I have seen magnet holders with broken tabs it is far from the norm so I have to assume it is a manufacturing defect from a certain production run.

Thanks Roger, that is what I figured after comparing the new one and the old. I'm not going to assume it's a defect. I'm beginning to think it is because I switched from my 7095 to the AquaSurf. For the better part of the day it runs wave mode and I'm wondering if the constant on and off switching is fatiguing the plastic?

Thoughts?
