magnet holders for tunze

Well is there any way to solve that problem? Magnets from somewhere else perhaps? (I just added a new thread for that)

I've had my 6000's running for a couple years now without incident on 1 inch acrylic FWIW

How do you like the tunze's and the controller?

could not be happier with them

It may be *OK* with the 6000s since they don't put out as much flow, but what if someone is running 6101s and up? There will be a lot more vibration

that is why my statement is limited to the 6000

I agree, just want to point out to the OP, in case he's thinking that the magnets will work for all Streams. Easy detail to miss :)

i guess it depends on if you want super flow - I keep sand and I keep hammers and such - so anything larger might be too much. otherwise the flow and the variety of flow due to the controller is very nice

what is the GPH from the 6000's, i need some for a 120gal sps tank.

lets see - if I was going to run larger streams how would I fasten them down if I had 1 inch acrylic

Is the tank set up yet? I had envision acrylic build my tank and had them make a cutout in the top on both sides to accommodate the rail system and it worked but I did not like it because it seems flimsy to me and was not very stealth - but many use the rails.

When I have another tank built I will specify special water mover accommodations which will make them hidden and moveable.

I am not up tp speed on how much water flow SPS needs but 2 6000's ain't shabby - but I am not sure they make them anymore anyway.

yeah, 6000s aren't made anymore, but you can still find em if you do a simple google search.

Here's what I have for flow in my 180 SPS with SSB :)
6201 x2
6101
6060
6080
6025
6045

The 6060+6080 were just sold to make room for another 6101 on order :)

wow, are you running a BB tank?

i'm trying to have a 120gal rimless reef tank with 1" acrylic walls, thinking of a external over flow but not sure.

no, I have a SSB. Why such thick walls? Are they necessary? If you can do 3/4", you can easily use the Tunze magnets.

I'm not too familiar with rimless, acrylic tanks, but you only need 3/4" for rimless glass tanks.

will i was told that any braceless acrylic tank needs to be over3/4" or it will bow bad.

is that true guys, because i would be very happy if i can get away with 3/4" and use tunze's.

^ look at Perry's post. looks like you can keep your 1" and use magnet with big Tunzes. 6200 push out close to 5300 gph.
