Magnifica compared to sps

i always reserve a flat live rock for it :smokin: i didn't know marcorocks produce reef mortar. ill definitely try to make with it a huge flat rockwork as seen in the bra pic

epoxy works very poorly for me

Carlinhos Moreno never uses Epoxi.................

He built a pvc structure..............inside the rocks............and use special types of ciment.................

I will raise the exact information.........about the products he uses to built this structure...............

As soon as possible Iwill bring this information............

The possibilities to built hard scapes for anemones is huge.........

Imagine the possibilities to make many deep cavities for BTAs.............flat surfaces for Mags and Mertens................

Also if you noted...........the substrate is made of the same thing........makeng this aquarium a Bare Bottom system................

Carlinhos Moreno colosed loops are also very intresting................if you want to keep anemones................this system will avoid pump sucking............

Check some info on this Reef.............

I guess mertensi can be thrown directly onto a barebottom. But it's really hard to find one. I haven't seen it for years

YURI.......

what.......is......the.....deal..............

with.....................all..................the.............dots?

Good discussion, here are some good photos I took to show how adaptable both species can be, They can both be exposed to air and direct sunlight for short periods as well as a range of salinities one would presume, imagine if it rained in these photos.
Here is a mag at my feet with coral exposed in front of me.

Here are some more mags in a pool nearby

And a close up of a larger individual with its foot fully out of the water

here are the sps above the mags fully exposed

Awesome pics.............

Yes they are hardy.........

I think that they are hard animals even when physically injured.............

Some facts about Mags :

Its known that the Hawksbill Sea Turtle Eretmochelys imbricata..........eat Cnidarians.................Jellyfish..........Zoantids.....and Amenones............

Here is a video that one of this Turtles are eating a Mag.............

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puPcWIKBWeU

I think that the Anemone is capable to recovery............from damage like this.........

The Turtle do not eat the whole animal...........maybe due the presence of some toxins..............

Here is another exemple of Hawkbill Turtle eating Palythoa caribaeorum...........here in Brazil................at Laje de Santos..........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLVfIS8sgCE

Palythoa have one of the most dangerous toxins...........the Palythoxin.......

Some people that eat this turtle get sick..........or even die...............maybe due the accumulation of this toxin in the Turtle meat.................

The Turtle just bite few time............giving the opportunity to recovery.....................

The craziest part of the video............where we can see the Turtle eating a Mag..............is the Clownfish making the defense.............

It attack mainly the Turtle eye..................

A good exemple of the defensive mutualism................

The presence of some toxin.........and the protection of the clownfish............maybe avoid that the anemone suffer a deadly attack.........

And maybe the anemone recover from the few Turtle bites...........???

i guess in their natural habitat, both mags, sps and gigs are very robust
