magnifica - tentacle branching

I've got a magnifica that I've had for about 8 months now. He eats well, gets plenty of flow, and is well positioned for maximum light (250 watt Iwasaki).

Over the past few months, many of his tentacles have started branching in two, and sometimes three at the tips. All the anemones I see in pictures appear to have non-branching tentacles. Is this a sign of something wrong?

Nope, fairly normal IME and in many different species. At least I see it in amy H. magnifica, and BTA's and my carpets as well.

I just took pictures of some in Fiji and many have branched tentacles :) Some say it is a way to differentiate them from BTAs, but some BTAs will have branched tentacles too.

my bta branches into two and threes sometimes it starts at the tips and sometimes the bottoms

heres a pic of one that was 'starting' :)

wow,,, cool pic. I gotta get better with the closeups...

Glad to see the branching is a common thing. Now I just gotta get my clowns to get over their lovers' spat.
