Magnificent foxface help!!!!

Hello everyone.

My magnificent foxface is missing both corners of his tail fin. I've been researching all evening and can't seem to find anything.

The only other fish in the tank are a royal gramma and a pair of ocellaris clowns.

At time I checked parameters they were all good with the exception that my ph was 7.8- 8 (have been having a hard time keeping it any higher)
Please help!!!

Does it look like it "melted" away with a milky-white edge or does it look like someone took a bite of it?

I would suspect the clownfish nipping at it. My mated pair of ocellaris clowns have nipped my foxface's caudal fin more times than I can count.

It does not look really melted...maybe a bit frayed. It does look more like two bite marks I really don't see it being my clowns. They've been in the tank together for years and are always swimming together.

What would it mean if it was melted away? Which kind of infection? And what would the treatment be?

It would in most cases indicate a bacterial infection like fin-rot.

What would you treat that with? And could the treatment go directly into my reef tank? (I realize that ideally when treating a fish, its best to put them in a QT, but with this fish I believe it'd be better to leave him in my DT based on his size and dietary needs)

You would have to treat with antibiotics which cannot be done in a reef tank.

I checked water parameters and did a water change
I just don't know what to do for him. His tail is disappearing extremely slowly. :(
