majano/tulip anemone

There is someone in our local reef club who passes out free tulip anemones. I've always suspected they were really majano's. Are theyone and the same?

I assure you that I did not get one from this guy, but I think I have a majano (although I have never seen one quite so large as this one). I kind of like it so I thought about keeping it but would the sting from a majano bother other anemones?

Yeah, that's what everybody says their first time. Kill that anemone NOW! You will regret it if you do otherwise.

He, he :) . I know random aquarist I have delt with majanos before in a sps system. But this one is unlike any majano I have seen before. It is majano looking but it's about one and a half to two inches and really glows under atincs. I have to zap a few aptasias so more than likely I will get this also but I was wondering about thier sting...will it pester other anemones?

So are tulips and majanos the same?

heres a pic of this guy....

tulips are a bit pritter than mojano. but they still split like crazy

donno about theyre sting

they arent the same as aptasia. aptasia will retreat in a hole when bothered. mojanos have a foot like a regular nem
