How do I get rid of Majano...Joe's Juice is not working too well and I can't reach all of it to cut out. Removing rock is not an option as well. I had a raccoon butterfly eat it all in my past tank but some has resurfaced on the live rock in my new 375. Is there any reef safe or semi-reef safe fish that will pick at it? Maybe a larger angel.

I have been fighting them for 2 years now in my 150 reef. I also had a racoon butterfly that was only able to eat what it could reach. It then ate my zoo's and other soft corals. I took him out and now the mojano's are back in full force. Take some Kalc powder and mix with R/O water. Works the same as Joe's juice and cheaper. There is nothing that I know that will eat them. I weekly kill what I see and just have to live with them. They will sting caps and other hard corals. Let me know if you find a solution. Good luck...

I've had the best luck with Joe's when I shut down all of the circulation in the reef, let it settle, and then let the Joe's sit on the offender for about ten-fifteen minutes. It also kills all of the algae it settles on (the rock/coral will be bleached), and pretty much anything else will get a caustic "burn" from it. Same thing as using the above mentioned Kalk-sludge (calcium hydroxide) solution.
Some of the better "nested" need a few treatments; I take it as part of the weekly husbandry now.

Good idea to use eye protection and rubber gloves if you're prone to splattering it a bit like I am.

Strange thing is I don't remember these guys on the Tonga we brought in during the 80's and 90's.

I just shot mine with vinegar over the weekend and so far they seem to be gone.

Sounds like some more joes juice it is. I might actually look at pulling out the rock before it spreads too much.

Be careful if you try the kalk-sludge method. Very effective against aiptasia (dunno about majanos), but the the last time I tried it, a bit drifted onto a crocea. He spent the next half an hour forcefully expelling water against my fluoros, against the hood, and against the wall behind the tank.

I tried to move him lower but either he was still irritated or just exhausted from the effort and died.

Simply remove them by hand, with a tweezers or rubber gloves like I did. Yes, I am a big girls blouse.

Seriously, there are not like aiptasia -- i.e.: they do not simply regenerate after being obliterated.
