I am looking to add either a majestic or emporer angel to my reef tank. I have mainly sps with a few pom pom xenia. I don't have clams, zoas, or any lps corals.

In your experiences with these fish, how have they behaved in your sps tank?

Would you put them together in the same tank?

I have a 210rr.

Thanks, Steve

I would put them together. But it is hit or miss with the corals.

Majestics are more shy and emperors are more bold

I have a Pomacanthus navarchus in a mixed reef, so far so good...
Friends of mine have those two in a SPS & LPS filled tank, and they have eaten some of their LPS and they do occasionally nip on SPS, but when you have a lot to nip at the damage is not that big. They had to remove their elegance coral and some euphyllias from the tank, but all SPS seem to be safe...
My advise would be to add as big a fish as you can get. Smaller angels are more prone to nip at SPS polyps, but bigger angels tend to eat LPS and zoanthids but you won't heve that problem ;)
IMO the Majestic angel is one of the less destructive large angels, but definitely not reef safe!

I had a Majestic in my mixed reff for years with no niping issues. The tank was mostly softies and LPS but there were a few SPS monties in the tank.

The Majestic was shy for a long time but learned to be more bold and eventually became a mainstay in the open swimming room. Part of this I beleive was because of my otehr larger fish in the tank. I lost my buddy for other reasons.

But I've gotten another Majestic and he too was shy for awhile. But now he's becoming more bold and is out swimming in the open. But I don't have all of the large fish that I once had.

My old buddy.
