Majestic Angel and PBT?

Looking for thoughts on adding a Majestic Angel in my reef tank with an existing Powder Blue Tang. They would both the same size. Since they have different body styles I'm thinking it might be ok but has anyone done this?

I would use an acclimation box at first, which is what I typically do with new arrivals anyways.

Thoughts?

They should be in a qt prior to the acclimation box.what size are the fish? pbt can be ich magnets but after a solid qt process should be very hardy and tough fish...they are very bold and can be quite aggressive..Navarchus on the other hand are typically quite shy as far as angels go...if the tank is a 90, personally I would say no...too small for the pbt and he might end up bullying the Navarchus...Navarchus is the smallest of the larger angels and a juvi would be okay in a 90 but would need a bigger tank down the road...their baby colors, imo, are the nicest of most angels and they gain their adult coloration quite fast, they are beautiful fish at any size and one of my favorite angels, really great fish...if getting a real small one- keep in mind they need to be fed many times a day...what else is in the tank?

I've had the PBT for a year now and he is completely healthy. Also in the tank are 3 respledent anthias, a swissguard basslet and a mandarin. The PBT is 3" and the Majestic is (if I buy it) 4". I QT all fish and once I'm done with that I acclimate with an acclimation box. Disease is not my concern, compatability is. I will be upgrading in the next year as I have 180G in my basement. I might hold off on adding the Majestic until then to play it safe if you think it won't work.

Wait till the new system is up. Adding the angle will most likely push the pbt over the edge. I've found it almost impossible to add any fish in which a powder blue might consider a threat.

I agree...the pbt would probably not be too happy with a new fish...when you get the new system going I would add the navarchus first let her get comfy in there for a bit and then add the pbt and other fish..

Yeah, PBTs don't like newcomers. I always use the time-out system with them. Toss the PBT into the QT for a week after the new fish goes from QT to DT. The PBT will make sure all fish know he's there; but there's just nothing more than minor pecking order stuff. This usually doesn't work well with fish that are more aggressive than just territorial (like PBTs) ; but its always worked for me and PBTs.

If the DT is too small, it ts doomed to failure though. Odd, but I have a Sohal with my PBT and he ignores new fish. He seems to have a way of letting other fish know he's the alpha fish with nothing but passing glance.
When I re-introduce the PBT; the Sohal will immediately give him a nip to remind him who's in charge. But the armed truce goes on as normal. Lots of posturing, but no real battles. Both tangs ignore the wussier fish in the tank too. (Gad! I'm almost giving human qualities to fish; something I usually avoid.)
