Making my own y adapter?

Would there be any problem making my own MIDI y-adapter or do I have to use Tunze's? I just purchase a 5th stream and want to add it to my 7095.

I wouldn't recommend it only because I know ours was not easy to develop and was problematic, it is possible to get a back feed where the signals cross and the pumps cancel each other out, there is actually some circuitry in our branch adapter to prevent interference, if it could be done simpler and cheaper we would have done so.
