Hi All -

Is there a general rule of thumb on how much salt per gallon it takes to get the salinity to 1.026?

Getting ready to make my first batch and wonder if it's x amount of salt per gallon.

A little more than 1/2 cup per gallon.

Or if you could weigh it, 35ppt = 35 grams of anhydrous salt mix per liter.

you joined RC in 2010 and have 421 posts and you are just now mixing up your first batch of salt water...….

In this hobby you need patience....I'd say you're the king.....

LOL

For what it's worth I bought water for many years instead of making my own. I was at the LFS all the time anyway and it was worth it to have a consistent blend and a lot less hassle. Nowadays though the LFS is ~30 miles away.

I use 150g of Instant Ocean per gallon of RODI and adjust as necessary after 6 hours of initial mixing. Pretty close every time.
