Making saltwater question

So I am getting ready for the big tank switch hopefully next week if I get the legs for my lights. I started to make some salt water in my brute can. First time I have done big batches and not in my 5 gallon gas containers. I just checked on it and there is a white power film on the heater and power head and all along the side. I am not sure what it is? Possible bacteria? Not sure if I should dump the whole thing and start over. Or maybe use a different container. perhaps that is contaminated. Any thoughts?

I am also looking for a 10 gallon bucket that I can mix up about 7 gallons worth of salt water for water changes. That brute is just too big and doesn't seal well

Thanks

I have a 55 gallon drum that i mix my saltwater in and it does the same thing with the white film on the heater. I think it because of the heat and the low flow, but im just guessing, i never thought anyhting of it until now... I also have a little bit of a brown film on the sides of the white drum, but i havent worried about that either.

ok just wanted to make sure. I am sure that is in the 5 gallon containers too but I don't look in there so I never noticed. I am using Coralife salt. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I've had it happen at least once with every salt mix I ever used. Seems like it happens if you add the salt too quickly, causes some sort of precipitate. Thats just been my experiance. I add it slowly, over a few hours and it doesn't seem as bad. Certainly ok to use it though.

Yea I get both the white & brown. I freaked out the first time I seen the brown and post on RC. I was informed that it was normal and not to worry.
