They are having a going out of Biz sale starting this Thursday thru
Sunday.

Makin' Waves - Jim ext 103

16518 Arminta St.

Van Nuys 91406 787-8216

m-f 10-7 sat 10-3 but I guess he's open this Sunday

Too bad, Jim has a nice store. Lots of marine livestock.

Damn, I have stopped by there like three times, none of those times were they open. man o man, i gotta check them out.

I'm surprised as well. Was it purely a business decision? They were a bit out of the way and the market is ultra competitive.

I just got back from there. Jim said they lost their financial backer. I guess he took ill.

In any event, Jim is selling everything super cheap - I'm talking wholesale cheap. I bought a 7"+ gigas from their show tank for only $85. I wish I was putting a tank together right now. You could probally do it for a third of the cost. Anyway, he said the sale runs from today until the weekend.

BTW, as for fish I saw a pair of flame wrasses, crosshatch triggers and a few nice, big angels. He still had a ton of corals and and clams too. He had a nice Superman monty in his show tank I was eyeballing pretty hard, but I decided to pass.

wayne, becareful with stuff from their show tank, my friend said they have flatworms. i can't confirm this but its better to be safe than sorry.

i live in Van Nuys and this is the first i have heard of this store.

what are the store hours??

lol read the 1st post...

my guess is that the flatworms aren't the AEFWs, but some other type.. he found them on a clam he got from the display tank.
speaking of which, how are their other clams priced? please pm me :)

He has some Squamosa hybrids (I think w/Maximas) that he quoted at $70 a few weeks back. They essentially look like Maximas but the ridges on the shell are gapped further apart like Squamosas. I'll swing by there after work and let you know tonight.

Gabriel man up and get that large angel your always talking about...:) If he starts picking at your sps you can always house him in a 120g tank.... I mean your sump....lol

I got a NICE blue teardrop maxima that i've been in search of from them last week. I was surprised they had a few in stock. now they are half price! Jim's got a ton of fish too. worth checking out!

I went over this afternoon and picked up two of the squamosa/maxima hybrids at significantly less than that price. :) Also picked up a couple of frogfish, dwarf eel, and the superman that was mentioned before. Spent way too much but I'm happy as a clam. :p

BTW, noticed flatworms all over the holding tanks but not in the main display outside.

They have a limited dry goods selection - a couple of bowfronts and various skimmers, sumps... lying around. I wouldn't count on finding what you want but the coral and fish selection is still worth a look.
