ive had many people tell me all different things.. can anyone put a positive ID on this guy for me?

he eats well... is it normal for him to hide with the lights on and be out SOMETIMES when their off?

How long have you had him? Leopards are known to run on their own internal clocks for a while which are usually set to their place of origin, halfway around the world.

He'll gradually adjust to your lighting schedule and be up during the day and under the sand at night.
 
+1 just picked up one myself this past week at my LFS. love mine but he's a little skinnier than i like. hoping to fatten him up.

They are known to suffer with internal parasite and some people treat them with prazipro or the like as a preventative. Hopefully you've checked out the leopard wrasse primer sticky :)
