Till I upgrade in a month or 2. Also I am not sure what is needed to ID it, so I took pics of each side,, Sorry if it's too much lol .. This mantis is not shy at all too ..

Olive color + lack of "obvious copulatory organs" = "girl"

Nice pictures. I think they are definitive, if I'm looking where I think I should be looking.

i think its a girl too but i dont have much experience. i cant see anything after the last pair of legs so i would believe its a girl

First impression = female as well. Color is not a solid rule of thumb though; if the gonopods are simply obscured from vision, then it may well be a boy. it's a tough shot, but can you get a clear shot of its underside? specifically between the last (third) pair of walking legs. two pores (gonopores): female. two sticks (gonopods): dude.

lol thanks for the advice everyone ... I will try to get an underbelly pic if I can and stupid question but are females more colorful than males???

variable in colour from pale cream to vibrant olive green. In mature individuals, the females tend to be more creamy and the males are often emerald green... but not always. there has even been a bright red individual that Dr. Roy posted pictures of.

thanks a lot justin... i am kinda having a hard time taking pic's of her under belly .. but ill take everyone's word of this one being a gurl .. once i do have a good pic of the belly ill post it ..
Thanks again everyone

Feed "her". More specifically, dangle a piece of food near the surface next to the glass and have someone with a camera at the ready. They do this little climb/hop/swim thing where it looks like they are scooting up the glass. This will provide you with a good shot of the ventral side. Do a little food at a time so you can get multiple attempts and shots. Good luck!

Finally, I got the shot I needed .. lol .. I hope this helps everyone .. And i hope this is a good shot to tell sorry if more than

I don't see gonopods either... you might possibly be mistaking the branched parts of the legs as gonopods?

btw way to go on the underbelly picture lovemenot!

You can have a boy, but just like Mickey and Mallory, they can only see each other from different sides of the glass.
