I agree. Males turn more red and have the antenna on the dorsal fin.

Definitely male or at least sub male, I had one that did stay same color but had the spike for almost a year until he changed completely, color change pretty much over night, original male did not last a whole lot longer

Or purple depending on region they were collected

Well this is interesting,one of my females is turning as well, caught the beginning tonight, has full spike and dark spots where just this afternoon it was solid orange.
