hey I have one too that has a high dorsal fin like that... would like to know if mines a male too... What does a female scotter look like? do they breed in captivity?
the scotter is the most active little fish I have in my tank.
" The males larger then females, have larger fins and the first ray of the dorsal spine is about twice as long as the rest. They breed by slowly swimming towards the surface of the water forming a small arc. At the apex of the arc they release the eggs and sperm to be carried off by low currents. They have occasionally be spawned in captivity in large aquariums however the fry haven't yet been reared."
IME I agree with Delsol650. Males spines usually are MUCH larger and pertrude above the "sail". I'd say you have a female myself as sails do not mean it's a male. HTH
