Hello, What I wanted to do was have a small tank with just a real nice piece of live rock, no added corals or critters. I thought it would be fun to see what developed with there was no predators or grazing critters in the tank. Watching the live rock in my reef tank was one of the more interesting things I have done, however as soon as something started growing someone would come along and eat it.
If I could pick the live rock myself I would have just 1 piece if it had enough interesting shape to it.
The tank I am going to use is a 12 gal jbj. I wanted to use an air lift instead of a pump for circulation and I am thinking about leds for lighting.
Please let me know what you think of this idea and if you ever get a single piece of live rock that would work, If there is a min amount of rock I could add the balance to my reef tank, although it already has plenty.
