Mandarin and/or Six Line Wrasse?

Could I have both a Mandarin and a Six Line in the same tank or would they be too competitive for food and one of them starve to death (most likely the Mandarin since the Six Line is more aggressive)? I know Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m a good 7 months away from this because I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t think my tank is established well enough for a Mandarin. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m just planning for future inhabitants and trying to get my ducks in a row.

i put a 6line wrasse in my 7 gallon and in two days he ate all my hundreds of pods, and he is a pig with it comes to frozen food, so i would think unless you have a big tank 100+ i wouldn't do it.

how do you know when you're ready for a Manderin? I know people say the tank has to be well established, but what if you bought everything from a well established tank? I have tons of life in my tank, little critters running around everywhere, hundreds of them from little tiny hard to see things on the glass to larger, rice sized things that run around when the lights go out. I don't want to starve anything to death though so how do you know?

Perhaps "established" is not a good word. "Mature" might have been better and from what I've read, a mature tank is at least a year old.

i think u would be fine. i have both a sixline and a mandarin in my 29 reef and thry both do great. both have big bellies. jsut get a mandarin that will eat frozen foods. also get the mandarin first cause sixlines an sometimes be agressive towards new additions.

Wrasses are VERY territorial. Mine bullied my goby so bad I had to relocate him to my fuge.... still don't know what to do with him!

My wrasse isnt territorial at all he goes with the flow looking for food.

Mandarin will be a pig, wrasse will take care of any worms you may have too.

The Mandarin might be a pig but everything I've read says the wrasse will be more aggressive. I'm still a good ways away from this so it'll be a while before I get either fish. Since I have time on my side, I'll take Go27's suggestion of looking for a Mandarin that will eat frozen foods. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve read that itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s difficult find but not impossible.
