mandarin, directly into d/t or q/t for a while?

Would be good to know, i still can't find this stuff in stock anywhere, even online they are all sold out. But also back to the initial question, anymore experiences with having any outbreaks or nothing from dropping a mandy straight into the d/t?

Yeah bummer, same results here. LFS said they always carry it but currently there is something going on with their harvest or something and no one can get it. They had some off brand stuff but I wasn't so sure about it, going to do some research first. Sold out at Marine Depot and DFS too.

I would think you'd be fine, as stated in the other thread it comes down to a statistic, and if you are or are not personally willing to accept that risk. my .02 anyway

How far is your drive from the NW suburbs of Chicago? If desperate, I can give you a couple of packs. I am pretty sure I have some extra in the freezer.

Or failing that, I seem to recall, they also will eat capelin fish roe. But it has been a few years for that so I may recall incorrectly. Once I found Nutramar Ova, I just stuck with it as it was easy.

By the way, when purchasing a mandarin from an LFS, bring a bit of the Nutramar Ova with you. That way you can test if the mandarin is healthy (cyanide captured ones won't eat).

Appreciated Steve, only about 2.5 hours, I'll let you know if it comes to that. She's got plenty of pods in my tank and her stomach is no longer shrunken, just dont like seeing the spine line while she fattens up. She wont take pe mysis yet, but I still have a few other tricks up my sleeves to fatten her up quicker.

What would that look like if it were on the fish? Or will I just see some type of sign or weird behavior?

Velvet, or oodinium would look like a golden or light colored sheen. Behaviorally the fish would be reclusive and somewhat light sensitive.

Mandarins are ich magnets though they don't always show it. I added mine thinking it was fine but it gave my yellow tang ich and it died. Didn't affect the mandarin, firefish goby, four clowns or trigger.

I can't find nutramar ova either... I am trying to feed my mandarin through TT process. I was going to hatch brine shrimp and make a feeding station for him? I saw this on youtube but can't remember the author? I do think it was Paul B tho? He does not eat the baby brine shrimp but I think that might be b/c they are in the water column? He might like it better if he can pick at it? I am also trying cyclopeez?

have you guys had any luck with either of those?

it is Paul B, yes. here is my write up on it, and a link to his original thread:

mine will sometimes pick at cyclop-eeze.

Looks like nutramar ova is out of the question for a while for whatever reason, whats another good frozen that people have had decent success rates with?

Frozen cyclop-eeze has been a decent runner up for me as far as frozen. Baby brine shrimp help too.

Black worms and white worms.
