Mandarin fat but doesnt gain weight?

So Ive had my little green mandarin for over 2 years now, and she has always been plump. We call her the psychedelic grape.

Anyway I just noticed that while her belly is always full(to the point of bursting some times) she never seems to actually fatten up. From her belly back seems thin looking, and not rounded like a fat mandarin should.

She is always eating pods, and gets a good bit of the frozen food I feed as well.

So im confused, why is her tail end not fatter?

Matt could be right. If so, it is really difficult to treat in a mandarin. Will yours also eat mysis?

You could set up a hospital tank and treat with Metronidazole. The reason I asked if he will eat mysis is that you won't have copepods in the hospital tank. But I am NOT an expert on fish diseases, try that forum. Best of luck.

old age ? couple people near me had 5-6 yr old green mandarins just slowly waste away after being fat and happy for years.

Ive only had her for about 2 years now and she is still pretty small at 1.5-1.75" max, so I dont know about the age thing.

Ill try and get a shot of her tonight, she isnt that fast but she never stops moving.

My female mandarin's belly looks like its about to burst (she always has a round belly) right before she lays eggs but I have a pair.
I don't know if a female mandarin will produce eggs without a male around to fertilize
