Mandarin goby lost his color today

My green mandarin goby lost his color today. I have a 65 G tank with refugium.. It's been set up about a year an a half. I have goby for about six months. Water parameters have been steady. Any ideas what is going on with it?

I assume you're not talking about lights-on or when the lights are off. They do that when they sleep.

Yes, the first time mine did that, I thought for sure it was dead or dying. Just sleeping is my guess.

Wasn't sure if that made a difirence but just thought it could help

I guess panic set in when i saw him that color. Tonight he looks fine, i guess i over reacted. Thanks all of you

Your mandarin has had fear of something, and reacted this way coating himself with a toxin. You can look if it has problems with anything in your tank.
