Mandarin Goby???

I have a 60 gallon aquarium with an emerald crab and three small anemones. I would like to get a Mandarin Goby, but I'm not sure. I have heard of people's emerald crabs attacking their Mandarins and others have said their anemones have eaten them. Would an emerald crab and an anemone kill a Mandarin Goby?

An emerald crab CAN kill a sleeping Mandarin and an anemone CAN kill a Mandarin. You didn't specify which anemone you have which is very important since carpets will kill mandarins but bubble tips will not.

Also many people on here will say that it's risky putting one in a 60 gallon since it's to small of a tank to breed enough copepods for the Mandarin to survive unless you really really know what your doing with a copepod refugium or safe haven for them to breed in

What do you mean evidence? A carpet anemone can kill a Mandarin I can't see how you would argue against that. My first Mandarin was killed by a Gigantea Carpet Anemone it just barely brushed against it and was stunned and wrapped up. I'll see if I can dig around my old files and find the photo as your beloved evidence

And an emerald crab can kill a Mandarin.

Emeralds have always been opportunistic and when lacking a steady supply of food can turn towards small unsuspecting sleeping fish. A Mandarin is an easy target IF an emerald has decided to attack a sleeping fish.

Keep in mind I stated that they CAN kill a Mandarin but I never said it was likely.

Sorry I didn't mean to quote the part about the anemone, of a fish swims into an anemone then yeah it can be killed.

The emerald crab claim though has long been perpetuated but no one can show evidence that an emerald crab will take down a perfectly healthy fish. They are built with claws for eating algae, not killing perfectly healthy fish.

Well you could always buy a carpet anemone and a few mandarins and see what happens. Then you'd have personal experience.

I've lost several fish to my gigantea carpet nem . A new fish in the tank gets disoriented and swam right toward it. I've had fish get startled and dart into it by accident. And I've had my own mandarin get stung and them die from the sting injuries later. Suffice to say, I sold that gig after 5 years when it got huge and started taking down my fish

This is the most common way fish get taken out by anemones in aquariums. I too have had fish get very stressed and swim directly into my old haddoni. A not stressed fish will be fine and avoid an anemone, but once they start freaking out they can just run right into them.
