Mandarin in a 12 gal NC?

Can i put a Mandarin in a 12 gal NC?W/ or w/o a refugium.

I wouldnt do it. In a tank that small i dont think you could keep enough pods to sustain a mandarian over a long period of time. They are really hard to get to eat frozen or flake food imo.

the only way i would is with a mandarin that you know eats frozen and then you have to feed three plus times a day w/o much competion. i got lucky and found a green one that eat frozen food then after a year and a half he disappeared in my 29g either my crazy 14" plus brittle or my long tentacle ate him because he sure was fat and happy

IME manderins will not live on frozen alone and still need to be in a system that has heavy pod production.

i dont think your brittle star ate him because mandarins have a posinous slime coating on them that makes them nearly impossible to eat.
