Mandarin oddity

My mandarin arrived from Blue Zoo with this large white area on his side...almost looks like something tore into him...any other thoughts?

Didnt see him for the first week. Also havent seen the watchman goby since day 2...but he is very tiny and the tank has a bunch of rock

second. get a hold of them, that's definitely not just a discoloration

If it's already a week, you probably won't get credit for it as Blue Zoo's guarantee is restricted on dragonets.
Also, a Mandarin not coming out for a week is strange as they are normally not afraid of other fish. In general they should start searching for food right away, or latest by the next day.

There is a reason why you should put new fish at first into an observation tank or better QT. This is particularly important when the fish were ordered online as you had no chance to observe them at the store.
