I got a mandarin four days ago. it's been doing great I noticed a few minutes ago that it went pale. All of the orange/red coloring went a pale green??!! What's going on???

Thanks,
Leslie

my water parameters are great. No ammonia, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate. ph 8.2 salinity and temp are great. all other fish are fine. I have a sixline, percula, fire goby, none of which seem to really notice the new mandarin. the only change is that I added a calcium drip. but it's dripping 1x/4 seconds and the ph hasn't raised at all. it's been picking at the rock and eating the frozen brine which was surprising. He just all of a sudden went pale but seems to have some color coming back

Hi,
Perhaps its with the light? Usually fish are less vibrant when you first turn it on. Mine would also like to hide in the crevices and back of the tank where my light dosent hit it as directly, so when it would come out it would be pale.

The lights had been on for at least five hours. He had been out and about all day. His color came back after about 2 hours and he seems fine today so far.
thank you

when mandarins are stressed or are sleeping their colors almost fade to nothing. I got really stressed one time and found this out so just wait untill he adjusted to your tank
