Mangrove Plants?

I recently picked up two mangroves very healthy looking(red roots)...i have a quick question about them well maybe a few. Here it goes.

Can i just submerge them half way in the water?

Can i completely submerge them in water?

Can put them in the sand to grow half way submerged?


What anyones thought into this for best growth?

Not to sound like a jerk, but this hobby won't go well for you if you don't research things before you buy them. Research, then buy. You'll save yourself lots of headaches, and lots of animals lives.

mangroves can grow in any of the conditions mentioned above. they are easy and hardy plants. make sure you mist the tops with fresh water to keep the salt creep off.

Two plants is not going to do much but you can say you have mangroves until you get out of the hobby. I have 14 mangroves in a 20L that is part of my sump system. It drains into my frag tank which drains into my sump. I attached them to acrylic rods and zip tied them so the tops are out of the water. It will take about 4-8 months until you see leaves. They roots should start after the first month. I have had mine 5 months and the roots have not made it to the sand yet. I think by January they will be there. Spray them with r/o water every day and they will be happy. Use the zoomed 50/50 spiral bulbs. They are only 10w and work well. I have three over the 20L.

i would like to add that mangroves grow soooooooooo slow that they dont export nutrient very well at all . what are your intentions with them ,for looks of nutrient export ?

They do grow super slow. I thought it was going to be like tomato plants but it is more like glaciers.

Can we at least hear your cool master plan?
Did you change from a 75 gallon to a more complex system?
If you are a little more open and show some pictures, you can try to climb out of the villain role. Right now you just ask odd questions and have weird responses.

i kiind of agree and it would seem like he is purchasing a set of tires and then trying to figure out if they fit on his car and how to get them to work with the wrong rims too .

The number one rule about mangroves after they sprout and have roots and leaves is not to move it. I keep learning this lesson again and again. The second rule is having an adjustable height lamp that can be raised with the growth.
