I live in an area where large quanities of mangrove seed pods wash up on the shore. Question is are they good life to keep in my fuge. I have seen pics of what appear to be baby mangrove trees in peoples fuges? any thoughts? I will also post this in the "new to the hobby" forum
Thanks,
John

From what i have read here on RC.... they help with nitrate reduction but u mite want to double check. I would be interested in some seeds. You think you could ship the seed pods to me and i would pay shipping??? let me know thanks

I was gonna ask the same question, but you beat me too it ><, was thinkin of adding some to the polypond sump im making, Also, as underWoasisjake said, if you are willing, I'd gladly pay for shipping for some pods.

Mangroves are actually good at reducing small amounts of nitrates and phosphates from the tank, Although, from what I've been reading, macro algae seems to be more effiecent.

Mangroves do take up small amounts of nutrients and also magnesium. They arent nearly as effective as many macros though. they are nice decoration and can provide habitat for a variety of critters though. Keep in mind they also need decent lighting to do well.
