mangrove roots a problem?

I have 7 mangrove pods rooting agressivly in my 40gal refugium/sump.

The sump fuge has about 2" of sand misc live rock chunks, a softball of chaeto and the 7 pods.

As the roots are now growing quickly i started to wonder if having them in there with my live rock will be a problem down the road. If/when the mangroves outgrow the sump or grow too tall and out of their lighting will the roots be all entangled in the rocks, then die then polute my tank?

Wondering if anyone has advice or experiance on this.

Thanks!!!

I've had a few mangroves die during the move and there was no swing in my water parameters. You should be fine, I have around 15 of them as of now in my fuge and main tank.

I've read somewhere that mangrove roots can actually grow through glass and break it! I was a firm believer in mangroves until I read that. A new trend and safer method may be having a separate plastic container connected to the sump, specifically for mangroves :) But to address the current problem, some people are advised to remove fallen leaves from mangroves as to prevent rot and ammonia, so i'd imagine that dead roots would do the same.

You trim the roots/leaves/branches and do the bonsai method. The roots eventually stop growing (they grow very little) and the tree grows into a fully developed tree, but miniature.
