mantis and copepods

Depends on species. N. wennerae or other small gonodactylids may eat a few copepods but not a sizeable amount, while a haptosquillid might snack on them all day. Most gonodactylids (Neogonodactylus, Gonodactylus, Gonodactylaceus etc.) only need 5-10 gallons. Larger mantises like peacocks need about 20 gallons or more to move when adult.

My smithii has begun "hunting" pods in his tank over recent months (could be though it's been doing it forever and I just noticed).

Very interesting to watch.

I would think that copepods would not be large enough to attract the attention of anything bigger than, say, a Haptosquillid. However, I would think that smaller mantis would see amphipods as "worth their time".
