Iam considering getting a but load of tampa bay live rock..a packege for each tank..175g bowfront, 210g and a 200g.

i know there is a possibility of "undesirable" creatures such as mantis shrimp, gorilla crabs and others..

i believe that i would like to keep most of the critters in a "undesirable critter tank so i have a question or 2

can you keep more than one mantis together..if so can diffrent species of mantis be kept in the same tank...

can you keep the gorilla crabs and mantis shrimp in same tank

how many gorilla crabs per tank can you keep...

i guess i should ask how much space does each above listed require..iam not familiar with inverts..only fish..

I would be happy to recieve any info or sugestions thank you in advance

you can't keep more than one mantis together, they'll kill each other, and the mantis will kill the crabs and eat them, it's definitely fun to watch though! and the size of the tank for a mantis depends on the mantis and i don't think it matters how many crabs you keep together.

You are not suppose to keep more than one mantis per tank without a divider. I have two mantis in the same tank together without a divider. My mantis are a 1.5" wennerea mantis and a 4" peacock. The little guy stays away from the peacock at all times. Now that being said I would not reccomend it. In your situation, probably all your mantis shrimp will be wennerea mantis shrimp. They will kill each other and any small crabs, snails, and hermits in your tank. Mine are also in with about a dozen fish. To bad you don't live closer I would love to take all the unwanted gorilla, stone, or any other bad crabs you find.

On a side note, where do you live in oklahoma? I used to live in Altus for 13 years.

Ok ..only one mantis per tank...how much space is a good amount of space per mantis...example..if i used a 55g with a 48"x12" foot print and used dividers how many mantis could that tank support where the mantis would be comfortable and happy

In a 50+ gallon tank you can keep 2 N. wennerae with little worry about deadly fights or the like. Each wennerae needs about half the footprint of a 55 gallon in order to live comfortably in the presence of other N. wennerae without huge territory disputes. And lots of live rock.
