Hi all, was in the midst of doing some tank maintenance today when I was surprised by this inhabitant. I at first thought it was a really large bristle worm or a dreaded fireworm.
Anyway, after some teasing him out and feeding some mysis I determined I had a mantis. A member of a local Facebook group suggested I bring it here for an id.
I was just gonna place him in my refugium/sump to minimize any chance that he take out my cleanup crew or fish and other shrimp.
Side but related note, I have had the same rock for about 20 years now, and I dip all my corals, so either he's a super hardy hitchhiker or he is spawn of shrimp that I have had all along. Lol. I appreciate any help or guidance to this guy. Reddish brown in color, has a pair of white dots on three of his back plates. Thank you.
