Hi gang,

What species do I have? I've had him for a year and not known it, if you can believe that (he's been living undetected and uneaten in my octopus tank). The rest of his body is a deep red, like a blood shrimp.

I think it's a Gonodactylus smithii? Anyone care to take a guess?

It is a Gonodactylus smithii.
Unbelievable that the mantis lives a year with a octopus.
Please spent him a new tank without predators.

No worries, I wasn't planning on harming him, I'm a fan of all creatures!

Thomas, my octopus, has stopped eating due to extreme age :( , so he's no threat to the Mantis. They've actually grown up together.

When Thomas is gone I won't have to change anything, it will automatically convert from a species-only Octo tank to a species-only Mantis tank :)

*insert appropriate Gloria Gaynor song here*

Nice mantis. Just looking at the meral spots and general appearance of the head area it does indeed look like a G. Smithii.

I love your Octo and Mantis!!!!! I want an Bimac octo so bad! but since octopets went under, its practically impossible to find aquacultured bimacs.... That crazy that they have lived together! considering they are absolute rivals!!!

It is amazing, they both have been smart enough to leave the other alone.

I can't believe OctoPets is gone (that's where I got Thomas from). Bimacs are by far the best species! I am going to miss Thomas, it's like losing your pet dog! :(
