I was wondering if someone could help me identify my mantis, I have tried to look at serveral pics to compare him to but none seem to match exactly. He was a hitch hicker on some live rock from the Florida keys. I can only get good pics of his head, but the rest of his body is light green with kind of an orange overcast.

In all probability, this is a Neogonodactylus wennerae. The key character that distinguishes it from other Neogonodactylus from the Caribbean is the white meral spot that is showing. There are other species from this area that also have a white spot (N. bredini, N. spinulosis, N. torus), but they rarely show up in live rock.

p.s. Gonodactylus chiragra only occurs in the Indo-Pacific and is intertidal. It is almost never found in live rock.
