mantis in a biocube

I recently got an 8gal biocube for xmas with the intent of keeping corals. While browsing around this site i came across these mantis shrimp and decided i have to have one. I would like to still keep soft corals/zoas in my biocube but want to know if a mantis would work in there too. Im worried that the lights will be too bright or that the bioload will be to high. Has anyone tried this or something similar? I know fish on nano-reef had one in his little 2 gal cube with corals but im worried it takes a lot more skill than ive got at the moment.

keep a smaller species like a P. Ciliata, or a N. Wennerae, you can keep them with soft corals but like it or not the mantis will put them where he or she wants them, i had one frag in my peacocks 33G cube for not even a day and it was moved three different places, just keep the water changes consistant and keep it well fed with healthy food and you will be fine

Just remember to get a smaller one. N wennerae is easier to find and small. P. Ciliata is a bit harder to find but not impossible. Also it is not a bad idea to feed it less in a 8 gallon. It is my understanding that they can be fine with being fed every other day or once every 3 days without harm. other than that it sounds like a good plan. I wish you luck!. and remember, I am a noob so take everything I say with a grain of salt ;) ......

thanks for your advice. I think im going to try keeping one. Even if it doesnt work i can always move him. My moms not going to say no to saving one from trigger food.
