Mantis in a sump?

I will be starting my tank really soon, and my sump will be a 10g tank. I'm just curious if out of luck I find a mantis shrimp in my live rock, will he do good in the refugium part of the sump?

Depends on the mantis species. Some of the smaller species would be ok in a 10g tank. Is it a wet dry or a refugium? You would need to take the necessary precautions to avoid the death of the mantis from your equipment. Ie. be sure that the mantis can not get stuck in your return pump etc. You would be lucky indeed to find a mantis in some of your LR (although some would feel quite differently about it).

Then consider me double lucky, when I ordered 110 lbs of live rock I came out of it with 2 mantis shrimp :)
