Mantis Issues

Well, I thought I only had one . . . I got him/her this morning.

Just used a net; pretty easy. This one is probably 2-2.5" Then, I spotted another one; quite a bit smaller and not nearly as bold.

They shared the same rock; the same holes. This and the fact that the second absolutly refuses to leave the rock caused me to wonder if they were a pair.

And what possible reason would one venture out and the other guard the rock???????????????

Well, I think I got my answer. While looking around for momma??? I saw two very little mantis eyes peeking out of a little hole. :eek2:

What should I do? I will get momma out but then what? What kind of problem am I walking into with this family.

:mad2: :mad2: :eek2: :mad2:

The only way that has worked for me (and I've tried most) is to pull the rock and shoot seltzer water in the hole using a syringe. First used by splach and coined by Reefrob, "The Splach Maneuver". Get'em while you can. Good luck.

same situation still 1-2 more to trap. But have noticed little feet pidda patting all over the rocks.I think for thier size we might have some luck and they will be food for bigger pray.

When did you get your rock . . . I think you got yours about the same day I did mine. I got my first shipment on 6.30.04 at around 11:45 p.m. Was a long night.

Anyway, here are some pics of my rock.

Will let you know how my hunting goes tomorrow.
