Mantis myths and legends

Yeah, this isn't a care question. I'm interested in exactly what the title says...are stomatopods present in any local folklore, myths, or legends? How about odd superstitions, not counting the breaking of glass and lopping off of fingers? My curiosity has been upped since getting to know them better, but I don't even know where to start looking on this one.

Dr. Roy posted a picture of a tapestry of some sort (the name eludes me as to the proper term for the 'Doily-thingie...and a Panamanian friend even sent me one, once...) from Panama. It showed a Spearer Mantis Shrimp.

Perhaps he can shed some light on things?

I have never heard of a whole finger getting lopped but I have seen this Fisherman attacked by giant shrimp! Old news clipping from Dr. Roy Caldwell: and there is a article of where a smasher broke a tank in the UK in like 1998. click here
