Would a 5 inch Peacock Mantis Shrimp eat a small long spine urchin??? i'm puting my mantis in the sump of my 75 gallon and there is a baby long spine urchin in there should i be worried for his life. and if the mantis will eat him should i move him up to my reef tank???

thanks Rich

the whole sump all together is about 35 gallons but the refuge is probably about 15-20. i had the mantis shrimp in a nano cube but it got really dirty really fast so i moved it into my reef sump because it would get better filtration with the skimmer, and the extra water volume. the base part of the urchin is mabye the size of a marble and the spines go out a little bigger than a golf ball. but i also have hermits and some snails in there so i figure he will go for the easy snack before trying to go through spines.

Thanks for the post
:)

ive had my peacock with my urchin for a while now. she's run into it a couple times but hasnt whacked at it at all. i think it just depends on the mantis really.

Im keeping my urchin with my peacock mantis and she hasnt bugged it once yet though she has been poked on a few occasions.
