mantis shipping went bad

I got two mantis today, a peacock around 4.5inches and a smithii around 3 and they both arrived with no water. So as soon as i got them i dropped them into their assigned tanks, is there anything I can do to help them recover?

if I dont is there anything else I can do? I am gonna be getting off work in a couple of house, I put them in at 930ish eastern time so, hopefully they are still alive.

I'd probably keep the lights out and as hard as it will be, don't repeatedly check on them (with flashlight or tanklights) - You'll likely subject them to to much stress.

Good luck

Re: mantis shipping went bad

That really sucks! I would expect a more durable shipping package from an online business. How were they packaged?

I wish you luck with them.

I bought it from some guy who listed his mantis shrimp on a forum, he shipped them in tubaware containers. Well.... when I opened the box the water leaked out of them compeltely. So the peacock died and the Smithii looks like he may pull through, he is moving around in the back on the tank he is interactive with me to a point, ive got my fingers crossed for sure. But.. the down side is when I contacted him about it he said "there was no live arrival guarentee" so I have to go half on the replacement peacock ... =/...

The other question I had was, should I try to feed the Smithii?

If it's up and around it may be ready to eat. I would toss in a couple snails for it to track down.

I would tell him straight up to not ship it in tupperware, obviously it wasn't secured properly. Mine was shipped in a large bag, plenty of water, foam pnuts, stiff foam walls and a very sturdy box. I even got him later than he was supposed to be delivered. DHL was supposed to get the mantis to me by 1030, but I didn't get him till 600 pm. He was just fine and went into my tank with no problems.
