Yes, they are. If you listen to the narrator, he mentions that roy is part of the research team.

Dr. Patek was a postdoctoral student working in my lab for the past three years. We hired her and as of July 1, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at U.C. Berkeley. Wyatt is a graduate student in the department.
