I must say, there's no doubt in my mind that Tampa Bay Saltwater is the absolute best place to buy the smaller species of mantis shrimp.
My Fluval Edge was devoid of any life for over a month, as all of my attention had been focused on my reef tank. So about 2-3 weeks ago I decided to bring it back to life. However, it being such a small tank, fish were out of the question, and thats when I took an interest in getting a mantis shrimp.
I've tried many different LFS's in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and none had any of the smaller, or ''dwarf'', mantis' that I was looking for. So I decided to turn to the internet in order to acquire one of these interesting creatures. Even then, not many websites sold the species that I was looking for. I found TBS by accident after reading someone's post on a forum. After discovering numerous other posts praising TBS for their mantis', I decided to place an order.
My Wennerae mantis arrived, but presumably he didn't handle shipping too well and perished overnight. Richard at TBS graciously offered to send me another mantis for free excluding shipping costs. I agreed and another mantis was on my doorstep in no time. This mantis handled shipping much better and is now doing great in his new home. He is active, alert, and has a great appetite for krill.
Richard, I can't thank you enough. You're doing a great job over at TBS and the customer service you provide is top notch. And for anyone who is looking for an awesome place to buy small mantis shrimp, you can't go wrong with TBS.
