Mantis signs

Well, i suspect i might have a 2nd mantis in my tank. First, all my peppermints dissappeared. Second, i just added 8 small hermits and i've already found 2 bodies. each time i've only found the front of the carcass. No lower body. I haven't heard any clicks, or seen anything else. I added a few damsels and they haven't turned up missing. I have about 70 lbs or LR in a 58g tank so I probably will never see anything. What are the chances that i have other mantis?

Well, I don't know about your peppermints but your hermits probably just molted. Their molts look just like their bodies, color and everything. A lot of people are fooled by this at first (I certainly was!), so I'd count your hermits first.

Well Peppermints are pretty good hiders, I rarely see mine, ocassionally at night. Now I did catch them eating my Hermits. You need to do a flashlight run, if you have a red lens it's even better.
