Mantis while cycling???

Im gettin a mantis from timn (hopfully N. wernnerae) and was wondering if i could keep him in a tank while the LR cycles?

Wait, will the LR even cycle im getting it from a guy who is breaking down his tank?

If you are getting rock from someone else and you keep it wet and don't have to drive 6 hours, the most you will have is a mini cycle, not a full blown cycle. So get the mantis and the rock...

Mantis are super hardy anyway so you shouldn't have a problem with a mini-cycle. I wouldn't put it in there with totally uncured rock though.

To minimize the cycle haul the rock submerged in water. Make sure you have plenty of containers, rock and water gets heavy fast .

Also, when moving rock swish it around and rotate it a few times underwater, that'll remove air pockets that can cause localized dieoff. Do this when you add it to the tank too.

If you do the above your mantis will be fine and you'll have little to no cycle.
