Mantis with 70mm Macro

Hi, I recently picked up the Sigma 70mm 2.8 macro lens. I am loving it! It is sharp from edge to edge, and has almost no perceptible chromic aberration or purple fringing. I caught my mantis ( about 2.5 inches long) lounging in one of his favorite holes and snapped this, as a 100% crop:

did it hollow out that rock itself? awesome pic

Not that particular hole. I often find rubble smashed up and on the sandbed that i would assume is from him(her?) making new paths in the rockwork. Plenty of clicking in the evening and morning!

No, it's in a 20 gallon high tank with a chocolate chip star, 2 inch tomato clown, and a 2 inch fuzzy dwarf lionfish. Eventually the 20 gallon will be his solitary home, with some corals I think. I have a custom 50 gallon acrylic waiting for the other occupants.

I love mantis shrimp but I think they are best in a tank by themselves. In any case, it is an excellent picture.

He was in his own 5.5 gallon tank for 6 months, but to downsize on tanks a bit ( I have turtles and other fish tanks too) I put him in the bigger one. Noone has harassed him yet (cross my fingers!) and I target feed him by putting a silverside head on the end of some fishing line, and lowering it in front of his cave. Within a minute or so he snatches it and has a little feast. I do agree that they would more than likely warrant their own tank.
Edit: I forgot to thank all of you for the compliments on my picture. So, thank you. I appreciate the feedback on my photography. Hopefully within a short time I will have more macros to post.

This pic just makes me want to have a mantis shrimp even more. It's out of this world. Those eyes look like two human faces. It looks like a monster from some crazy japanese animae. I love it.
