Mantle is falling down into the shell

My clams mantle is falling down into the shell and it is not closing up when disturbed. What should I do?

It's probably too late to do anything even if something could have been done. If there is no reaction at all then I would suggest removing it.

I am getting some reaction if I press on the shell.

But no reaction when you move your hand over it? No reaction to shadows or fish? Look down thru the top of it and see if you can see all the way down thru it to the bottom of the tank or to the sand thru it's in siphon hole. If there is a big hole on the underside then it is probably a goner.

Check the hole to see if it's gaping. Chances are it's already gone from what you describe. Retracted mantle+gaping hole=dead clam, sorry, but I hope you knew what caused this, otherwise, it would be a waste purchasing another clam.
