Maracyn 2 for bacterial infection

I have a High Fin Red Banded Goby that just went through a few weeks of Prazipro due to fluke outbreak. I believe he has a secondary infection. He's not eating and his belly has red blotches. I have maracyn 2 for freshwater on hand. Can I treat with that? I researched the dosing differences between freshwater and saltwater and can not get an answer as to should I double the maracyn 2 freshwater dosage or not. Has anyone done this with success?

It is. Each packet contains 10 mg of minocycline. My nderstanding is the saltwater version is 20 mg. So if I just double the dose I should be ok, right?

Yup, doubling the dose is exactly what you do when using the f/w version. I would also pick up some erythromycin (or Maracyn) and use that in conjunction. Maracyn treats gram positive, Maracyn 2 gram negative; they are meant to be used together in order to be full spectrum.

Thanks Humblefish! I have erythromycin hand. I'll give it a try:)

Hope you can help me confirm how to treat with this. I bought the freshwater Maracyn 2 also because I could not find the saltwater version.

Instructions say the first day use 20 mg per 10 gallons, then on days 2-5 use 10 mg per 10 gallons. Again, this is for freshwater. So for saltwater we use 40 mg (four packets) on the first day, and then 20 mg on days 2-5?
