March 1st MARS Swap Rare Consideration

Just to clean up the old thread this will be the place to get your corals pre- approved for the swap in the rare category. Please note that people who bring rares not only pick in the rare category but still pick in their normal group as well. There will be 3 bonus rounds at the beginning at the start of the first 3 rounds.

SPS must be at least 3/4 to an inch in size depending on the species.

Yumas that are non green count as rare as long as it is one good sized polyp ( quarter sized) or 2 small ones.

If you decide to bring 30 corals to get your bonus tickets please note that there may be only 10 of them that will count if they are softies. Zoanthids do not apply to the rule however if they are colorful. (i.e. not brown zoo's and paly's or gsp)

We will do our best to judge pieces at the swap but if they are unopen or we run out of time, there is nothing more we can do.

Last note is that the pre approved frags must be clearly marked as to what they are and who brought them. That way if anyone slips in some fakes we know where to send the posse.

With all of that being said.... bring on the eye candy :D

2 heads of Duncans counts. For people who keep LPS and softies that is a score.
Ponape torch at 1 inch frags are good and 3/4 inch baby blue polyp monti are legit as well :)

How about this?

How about tyree ponape birdnest, ORA Roscoe's acro, tyree pink polyped monti and PD.
\
The ponape birdsnest is legit as with the Roscoe. I know PD's wil count on a 2-3 polyp basis. As far as the pink polypo tyree monti a picture would help :D

So does sps have to be LE to be rare?

Not necessarily, but it doesn't hurt either :) If you have something you think might make it, just post a picture. We are pretty open minded and it doesn't hurt to try.

Cali tort is just getting to be too common these days. The rainbow monti is in, We need pics of the ORA scripps, and the red micro's but they sound nice.

My vote is yes on the micro's at 2 heads per frag and no on the ORA scripps. I need Mike or Pete to second the vote to make it official however.

Here is my vote on the extraordinary/rare consideration to date:

Duncans - 2 heads or more - yes
xinu's blue polyps monti - no
Tyree Ponape torch acro - Yes
Tyree baby blue monti - yes
Tyree pink polyped monti - yes
Ponape birdsnest - yes
ORA roscoe - no
Cali tort - no
Green carpet anemone - no
Superman Monti - Yes
Purple Monster - Yes
ORA scripps - no
Micromussa pictured - yes

Great show all - keep em coming! These are all great looking pieces and it is very difficult to judge what is extraordinary and what is 'typical.' When its all said and done, I love them all - and it is just an opinion, and not a science.

Please ensure that your frags are of typical size that you would find in a store - meaning, no 1/4" frags or something that would be really hard to ID because of its small size or keep alive. Also, if you all can post a picture of the colony or at least a name on your frag containers, it reealllyy helps!
